ur founders, Maty Ezraty, Chuck Miller and Alan Finger were all serious and highly accomplished yoga practioners who wanted to share the gifts they learned from their own wise teachers. When they opened our first Montana Avenue school back in 1987, they gathered together many styles of yoga under one roof, attracting the best teaching talent in Southern California. They sought to uphold the 5,000-year-old tradition of yoga by infusing their programs with integrity, quality, authenticity, and a warm welcome to every student.

In 1990, when the demand for well-trained yoga teachers began to grow in the U.S., Maty, with the help and inspiration of senior teachers Chuck Miller and Lisa Walford, created the highly renowned YogaWorks Teacher Training Program. Based on direct teachings from Indian yoga masters, this program has formed and guided leading teachers across the world including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Annie Carpenter, Natasha Rizopolus, Vinnie Marino, Kathryn Budig and more.

At YogaWorks, we believe Yoga is for everyone. It is our mission to honor and embrace each student’s search for personal growth, wellbeing, and fulfillment by offering the highest quality yoga programs to people of all ages and from all walks of life.

We do this with love, compassion, a sense of humor, and with respect for what each individual can accomplish through Yoga and throughout their lives.

Although we embrace a diverse array of yoga styles, one consistent theme threads through every class we offer – an excellence in teaching that has made us the gold standard of yoga schools. All of our teachers have minimum 500 hours of YogaAlliance certification, and many of our senior teachers have been doing their thing for 20 years or more.

Our signature YogaWorks style classes balance precise instruction, alignment with breath, fluid movement and emphasize thoughtful sequencing. Classes are carefully themed to deepen the students' experience of yoga and modifications are used to individualize the practice for each practitioner.

YogaWorks signature classes are paced moderately to vigorously depending upon the level. As a beginner, you can start with Level 1 and gradually build up to more advanced levels as your practice grows. Our yoga is also practical and geared toward addressing modern issues like releasing neck pain from computer usage and neutralizing the stress of a hectically paced day.

We take particular pride in our specialty programs for beginning yoga students, children, athletes, seniors, and people in need of rehabilitation, all of which feature our trademark YogaWorks approach: safe, compassionate and skillful teaching.

Core Values

YogaWorks Yoga

We never compromise the quality and integrity of our Yoga. It’s the cornerstone on which we built our company, teacher training and programs.

Keep it Simple

Our philosophy is that less is more. We strive to be innovative and efficient with a compulsion to stay lean and mean.

We lead by example with honesty, integrity and respect. We treat one another with respect, welcome new ideas and encourage everyone to step up and go the extra mile by doing what needs to be done.

We believe that yoga is for everyone, whether it’s on the mat, in our studios, or off the mat in the real world.

Keep it Light

Not only is laughter the best medicine, it’s also one of the keys to a happy, healthy, balanced brand of success. We take our jobs seriously, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun doing them; it’s important that we do so.

Personal Responsibility

We like to win and we share our successes. We applaud initiative, hold team members accountable and own our mistakes.

We are committed to evolving our programs and developing our employees. After all, transforming lives is our business. We strive to create an environment where everyone has the opportunity to grow. We look toward the future and learn from the past. We embrace change.
