Description
Come join Mimi for a restorative yoga practice, designed to encourage deep tension release for body and mind.
Through the use of passive well-supported postures held for anywhere from 3-20 minutes, the restorative yoga practice helps melt away long held stress stored in the body. By lingering in postures (asanas) with the support of bolsters, blankets, blocks and other props, we give the body the opportunity to release deeply, the breathe to become freer and the mind to let go.
With the use of numerous props, each pose will be tailored to your unique body. When the postures are set up with care for each individual's comfort then the nervous system can be relieved of responding to any physical stressors, eliciting what Dr. Herbert Benson refers to as the Relaxtion Response. Restorative yoga is an important tool for everyone in countering general fatigue and physical, mental and emotional stress , teaching us to nurture our own internal healing capacities.
No previous yoga experience is necessary, all are welcome!
